Menstrual panties can be used for different times of a period cycle

Some women prefer using period panties at the beginning of their cycle. The first few days tend to be heavy flow days, and women like to use a pad or tampon while they are wearing menstrual underwear just to be extra safe. Therefore, the panties can absorb any unexpected leakage or overflow from their sanitary products. Menstrual panties for heavy-flow days are usually lined with thicker fabric and have a few more layers at the crotch area. Some women only use menstrual panties towards the end of their period. Younger girls and teenagers can also wear menstrual panties

Period underwear for girls in their teens can offer extra security, especially when their periods occur while they are at school. There are two types of menstrual panties

The common one is washable menstrual underwear. It is made from thick and durable fabric that can be reused several times with a bit of soap and water after each use. On the other hand, disposable menstrual panties are made from slightly thinner but still absorbent fabric. They are not meant to be worn or washed as they are not as sturdy as washable panties. Disposable period panties should be thrown out right after use. Many women like to keep spare disposable menstrual underwear in case of early periods at night.
